My Favorite Christmas Movies

Nothing puts me in the mood for Christmas faster than listening to Christmas music and watching my favorite Christmas movies. I have a small collection of my favorite movies that I watch every year - without fail. I've already started to watch my stack, but am waiting for Jess to get home to watch most of them..... yea, she comes home today!!

Here are my favorite Christmas movies: it wouldn't really be Christmas for me without them.

1. My Favorite Comedy. Hands down this would be Lampoons "Christmas Vacation". Cousin Eddie is one of the funniest characters ever invented and this movie will have me busting up every single time. I even have one of the quotes on my phone for all of my notifications. This is our family tradition!

2. My Favorite Classic. "Miracle On 34th Street", the good ol' black and white original. I LOVE this movie. Edmund Gwenn is such an enduring Kris Kringle and Fred Gailey so good looking who could not like this movie. Plus, one of the best endings ever written. I cannot go a Christmas without this one.

3. My Favorite Story Brought To The Screen. Hands down George C. Scott's "A Christmas Carol". There are certain rolls in life that were just written for certain people. Arnold Swarchenegger is the terminator, Vin Diesel is Riddick and George C. Scott is Ebenezer Scrooge. This movie is so amazingly done that I want to go out and scream "Merry Christmas" in the streets myself. Scott does such an amazing job that I just love watching this movie.

4. My Favorite Kids Movie. "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", the animated movie, not the Jim Carrey version (though I do have both ;o). Christmas wouldn't be complete without the sound of Boris Karloff retelling one of my favorite Christmas stories.

5. My Favorite Christmas Chick Flick. I am not normally a huge Vince Vaughn fan, but "Four Christmases" is such a funny romantic comedy that I will let this one go. I actually don't own this little treasure, but Jess does, so it's all good. We discovered this one by accident in the pawn shop, and you can never go wrong with a movie for a dollar (most of the time), so we gave it a try. We've been watching it every year for the past three.

Other movies that are in my collection that I watch every year:
  • Elf - Will Ferrel is such a crack up!
  • It's a Wonderful Life - Can you really have Christmas without this one?!
  • The Grinch - with Jim Carrey
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas - Aaron's Ultimate favorite
  • White Christmas - I just picked this one up at the pawn shop this year - it's been forever since I have seen it, so I'm looking forward to it!

I'm always looking for great movies to watch. What are some of your favorites? I know, I know, most of you will put "Christmas Story": for some reason I just cannot get into this movie. I guess you either get it or you don't - I don't...... sorry. What else ya got?
