I am being stealth like a ninja this morning. Amy didn't send me anything to post this week, but little does she know I am posting something for her ;o). She made the cutest Valentine's with her kids last year to hand out in class: I loved them so much I saved it so that I could share it this year.
The amazing, and useful, Crayon Heart Valentine's, by Amy Hamblin!
(as written in her personal blog last year)
"I decided that we needed to do something fun for friend gifts this year
instead of just candy. I decided that we would make heart color
crayons. We have broken color crayons coming out our ears so I've been
having the kids peel paper off all the broken crayons and then we are
braking them up in pieces and putting them in my heart shaped little
muffin pan. I didn't know if it would work but I remembered doing it in
muffin pans when I was little so I crossed my fingers and I think that
they turned out great!!! The kids are still peeling and breaking but I
think if we do one tray a day for a couple days then we'll have enough
for their entire classes. Aren't they cute?!!!"
Supplies
Crayons
Heart Shaped Muffin Tins
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to about 350 degrees
2. Have the kids peel paper off of all the crayons and break them into small pieces.
3. Put several crayons, of mixed colors for a fun effect, into each muffin cup
4. Place your muffin tray into the oven until crayons are completely melted. Take out and let cool completely. Crayons should fall right out of the cups.
5. Tape your heart crayons onto a piece of paper with a fun saying on it. Fun and unusual Valentine's to hand out in class!
That is funny because this is what I was going to send you this week but time just got away from me. Maybe it was a little ESP:) They did turn out great and they were so easy.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike sister - that's why we are so close ;o) Love the crayons though! If I still had little ones in grade school it would totally be what they would be handing out this year.
