Carcassonne Board Game

This is our family's all time favorite game. It is a tile-based board game in which you are building cities, roads and farms and trying to amass more than your opponent. The beauty of this game is it can be played with as few as two people and as many many as five (six with one of the expansions). Either way it is just as fun and just as long. It is not drawn out longer the more people you have playing. The other appeal? It is never the same game twice.

Each player draws a tile in turn and tries to build upon his/her cities, roads and farms. You score according to how many pieces are in each. Depending on how nasty your family likes to play, there are ways you can steal each of the aforementioned structures from other game players. We tend to play fairly nice in our house.

Of course, as is typical of games these days, there are several booster packs you can buy for the game as well. This makes it much more involved and fun. It also makes the game longer as you have more tiles to place.

If you are looking for a new game to play with the family I highly recommend this one. It's easy enough for the younger family members to at least be able to match up tiles and be involved, but has enough strategy that it will keep the most competitive of the group interested as well.
