We invested in a fire pit a couple of years ago and it has been a great addition to our backyard. It's one of our favorite things to do on a summer evening: having a campfire without the camping. Just sitting around watching the fire and talking until the late hours of the night.
We had our inaugural fire of the year last night. Yes, it's a little late, but as you all know the weather hasn't exactly been ideal. However, we finally had a good week of summer weather and got to enjoy it.
Getting a fire pit is really, rather inexpensive. I think we paid under $100 for ours and have used it quite a bit. It's also very easy to just build a small on in your backyard as well just by digging a small whole and then surrounding it by landscaping bricks. We even used some old stump logs to put out there as tables for drinks.
It really is a great, cozy, gathering space to settle in on a summer night for smores, drinks and conversation. Think about putting one in your backyard - it will get used, I promise!
