Camping In The Backyard

Like I talked about yesterday in Mini-Marshmallow Madness, doing something out of the ordinary can turn a regular activity into something even more fun. To keep the kidos busy and happy for a day or two, set up the tent in the backyard and let them have a camp out.

Take this activity to the next level by doing more than just letting them sleep in the back yard. Get the backyard fire pit a blaze and roast hot dogs for dinner and make s'mores for treat, just like you would do if you were camping for real. Then sit around the fire telling ghost stories.

Makes sure to set the kids up with flashlights and don't forget to keep the door unlocked for midnight potty trips or for kids who decide the bed sounds a little more inviting after a while.

Turn this into a party by letting everyone invite a friend. You can't get a more inexpensive, easy to plan, party than this. The kids will think it's really cool, and feel very grown up, being able to sleep in the tent all by themselves: but they'll feel safe knowing mom and dad are just a few steps away in the house.
